JUSTICE FOR JANELLE - Janelle Durk’s fifteen year life ended the day a truck driver who was high on meth fell asleep at the wheel. Janelle, born August 21, 1990 was their only child. A typical happy 15 year old, who loved talking on her cell phone, going to football games and hanging out with friends. On July 6, 2006, her life ended when a truck driver high on meth fell asleep at the wheel causing a multi-car accident on I-70 at Mile Marker 141 in Clark County, Illinois. Since her passing, her parents have vowed to make America’s highways safer and protect other parents from going through the pain that they have been through and continue to struggle with every day.
DEATH BY METH – Travis Holappa was kidnapped, tortured and murdered on July 25, 2004 in Northern Minnesota by a 31 year-old man who was high on meth. After a six-day trial and about nine hours of deliberations a jury comprised of 8 men and 4 women agreed that Frank Miller, 31, kidnapped and murdered Travis Holappa of Embarrass, MN in July, 2004. Miller was convicted on all four counts brought forward by prosecutors, including two counts of kidnapping, one count of first-degree murder and another count of first-degree murder in conjunction with a kidnapping. Judge James Florey vacated the first three convictions and sentenced Miller on the fourth, which allows for the life without parole sentence. Death By Meth is a blog site that was started by Travis Holappa’s mother, who is using her blog to help educate the public about the dangers and consequences of methamphetamine.

THE NEXT 24 - “In November, 2006, I went to the Walker Center in Gooding, Idaho for 30 day in-patient rehab for my addiction to meth. I had used drugs since I was twelve years old but it was because of meth that I ended up at the Walker Center. For just over five years prior to going to rehab, I smoked meth every day without fail. All day, every day. Without exception.”
