The U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs has released $134,152 in federal funds to the Iowa Governor’s Office of Drug Control Policy for the Drug Endangered Children Program. The funding was included in the fiscal 2008 Commerce, Justice and Science Appropriations bill.
Senator Chuck Grassley said that the funds will help children who have suffered from the impact of drugs and meth labs in his state. The Governor’s Office of Drug Control Policy says that the funding will help them to help children who suffer from both the physical and psychological effects that come as a result of their exposure to meth lab toxins. Additionally, they will use the funding to help children who are currently living in homes where the use of meth by their parents or caretakers has led to them to be neglected and/or abused.
