Fresno, California: Aide Mendez, 23, had high levels of methamphetamine in her system on January 15, 2012, when she went on a shooting rampage that ended her life, the lives of her two young children, and the life of her husband’s cousin, according to the findings of Fresno Coroner Dr. David Hadden. According to Hadden, Aide Mendez had 2,500 nanograms per milliliter of meth in her system on the day she shot herself and other members of her family, over eight times more meth than what normally causes “bizarre behavior”. Hadden believes that the high levels of methamphetamine in Mendez’ system reveal that she was a frequent and long term user of methamphetamine.
Mendez’s husband, who is also the father of the two children who were shot to death, is the only survivor of the horrific attack on his family last week. His children, three-year-old Isaiah Echeverria and seventeen-month-old Aliyah Echeverria and his 27 year old cousin were all shot to death by his wife, before she shot and killed herself.
