Mark Buckner: One drop of sweat changed his life

Mark Buckner says that “all it took was one drop of sweat” to cause his meth lab to explode – an explosion that blew him out of his RV, burned him on over sixty percent of his body, and destroyed everything that he owned. Buckner says he “done it for the money”.

This National Geographic video (click the link to view) brings up some important aspects of the meth problem including: addiction to meth, cooking meth, selling meth, meth lab explosion injuries, chemical threat to hospital workers, the importance of family, and the high cost of caring for the uninsured victims of meth lab explosions.

Warning: Contains graphic pictures of his burns.

Thank you for posting. After watching this video, I learned that Mr. Buckner was arrested again shortly after being released from the hospital. I am looking for the date of his first arrest but not having much luck. Here is the link with the story of his arrest where he was sentenced to 135 Months in Prison for Conspiracy to Manufacture Methamphetamine.

    • Thanks for the info, Chris. Buckner’s experience with meth is a prime example of just how addictive meth is. Getting burned on 60% of his body after having a meth lab explode wasn’t enough to keep Buckner from going right back to it. He’s lucky – very lucky – to be alive, despite the fact that he’ll be living the next decade of his life in prison.
