TN Operation Fed Up: A joint investigation by members of the Roane, Loudon and Cumberland County Sheriffs’ offices, the Harriman Police Department, TBI, the Tennessee Meth Task Force and the Drug Enforcement Administration is set to charge 21 people with 264 counts of violating laws associated with the manufacturing of methamphetamine. If convicted the suspects will face a minimum of five years in prison.
Charges against the suspects to include:
Count one: Conspiracy to make meth
Count two: Conspiracy to possess and distribute iodine and pseudoephedrine
Counts three through 18: Possession of equipment, chemicals, products and materials
Counts 19 through 26: Distribution of iodine
Counts 27 through 29: Possession of iodine
Counts 30 through 264: Possession of pseudoephedrine
Law enforcement say the suspects were involved with both small and large manufacturing meth operations in Tennessee that took place in a variety of settings including motel rooms.
Eugene Allen Trent, the owner of the Carriage Hill Feed and Supply Store on Highway 321 in Lenoir City, was arrested in April for selling large quantities of iodine to area meth cooks. While farmers use iodine to treat injured animals, police say that a one pound bag of iodine would have been enough to treat a huge ranch for close to a year. Police say that he was supplying iodine to all of the meth cooks in the area. He also sold large quantities of iodine to undercover officers. Thirty five- gallon buckets containing one pound bags of iodine crystals, a rifle, and a shotgun were seized from the feed store. Trent faces eight counts of distributing iodine.
