TX Landlord opts for bulldozer over meth lab clean up

(August 12, 2009) Kory Sargeant, a landlord from Amarillo Texas says he will bulldoze the property he owns at 1904 Greg Street, where police arrested four people for manufacturing meth and child endangerment, on Monday. The meth lab was discovered, after Child Protective Services requested that police investigate the home, where they suspected that children were living in a home involved in drug activity.

When police arrived, they found the home had no running water and the residents were using boxes lined with plastic in place of a working toilet. They then disposed of the waste in the backyard. The refrigerator contained rotted food and rodent feces was found throughout the house, along with cockroaches, bugs, and mice. Police also found meth pipes and narcotics near to a baby’s bed. An infant and a toddler were living in the home, with four adults.

Sammy Lee Clark, 50, Kimberly Jo Clark, 48, Ethan Wade Clark, 19, and Cynthia Dawn Wester, 20, have been charged with child endangerment, manufacture of methamphetamine, and possession of chemicals with the intent to manufacture methamphetamine. Ethan Clark has also been charged with possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor.

A Hazmat team from Ft. Worth was called in to remove the meth lab chemicals found at the site.

The landlord said he had no idea about the activity that was taking place on his property. He says that he will demolish the buildings and then sell the land.
