New Hampshire: Feds arrest 11 for manufacturing meth

nh-meth-lab-bustAugust 12, 2009 – Nashua, New Hampshire Meth Labs Found: Federal agents announced today that they have arrested 11 people believed to be involved with manufacturing meth in portable meth labs in southern New Hampshire. The suspects include NH residents of Nashua, Candia, and Manchester as well as three suspects who live in Massachusetts.

DEA agents say all 11 of the suspects visited retail stores to buy products containing ephedrine and pseudoephedrine, a necessary ingredient used to make methamphetamine. Investigators used the information obtained by those retailers, who are required to record information about buyers of pseudoephedrine and ephedrine containing products, to find out if the suspects were manufacturing methamphetamine. The investigation, known as “Operation Crystal Baker”, involved portable meth labs, which are commonly referred to as “shake and bake” labs.

Reports about the bust, state that one of the homes involved was located close to a school, while another contained a “backpack” meth lab, where an eleven month old baby was found.  The baby was removed from the home, unharmed.

The  eleven people who were arrested are thought to be involved with four mobile meth labs, in an investigation that Federal agents said has been going on for two years.
