Iowa: Pseudoephedrine buyers will be tracked electronically

July 1, 2009: A new law that goes in to effect today will add Iowa to a growing list of states that are turning to technology to combat their meth lab problem. The new database will store information about the sale of pseudoephedrine products, as soon as someone makes a purchase.
According to KCRG RV News 9, Iowa is hoping that a $750,000 federal grant will pay for the database that will be implemented state wide. If the grant doesn’t come through, pharmacies will bear the cost of the the electronic logbooks.
