Iowa – Poor Man’s Dope – Dying for Meth

April 22, 2009 by Meth Lab Homes · Leave a Comment

iowaIowa (DVD) – “Iowa is a movie that will haunt your daydreams and nightmares for years to come. Every scene, every word, every note, rings true.

The setting is rural Iowa (Centerville is shown, but could be any small farming town), and revolves around Esper Harte. After an unexpected inheritance comes his way Esper (Matt Farnsworth) and Donna (Diane Foster) plunge into the “batch” business – cooking their own methamphetamine – only to watch it burn a scorching hole in their lives.

Left with no one to trust, the two lovers find themselves on the run from a corrupt parole officer (Michael T. Weiss), Esper’s gold-digging mother (Rosanna Arquette) and their own consuming addiction.

An unflinching look at the crystal meth epidemic in the Midwest and its devastating effect on the lives of users and the people around them, Iowa is notable for its restraint and compassion, and merits comparison with Requiem For A Dream.

Iowa is a must-see movie! It won the Midwest Independent Film Festival for “Best Picture”. Diane Foster also won “Best Actress” and Michael T. Weiss won the “Best supporting Actor” awards.
