Kansas Meth Lab cleanup budget cuts

December 2, 2008 by Meth Lab Homes · Leave a Comment

Contaminated meth lab homes in Kansas may not get decontaminated due to budget problems, according to Roderick Bremby, Secretary of the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.  Funds to clean up toxic meth lab homes are on the agency’s chopping block, along with reduced funding for safety-net health clinics and teen pregnancy prevention projects.  When he was challenged by legislators on some of his proposed budget cuts he responded by saying “There are no good places to cut”.

Kansas is also considering making cuts to programs serving the physically and mentally disabled and cuts to their education budget, a move that is expected to result in fewer teachers and larger class sizes.
