The War on Meth in Mexico: Part I Merida
October 7, 2008
Mexican drug cartels are fighting back hard against efforts being made by President Calderon to stop the manufacturing and distribution of methamphetamine, cocaine, and other drugs - drugs that too often make their way over the border in to the U.S. Using a strategy described by a DEA spokesman as “bribe you, scare you, kill you”, drug cartels have tried to send their message loud and clear - back off or else. In this audio clip, the first of others I will publish in this series about the drug war, a DEA agent talks about how brutal the war in Mexico has been and why he feels the U.S. should do something to help them to fight the rich and powerful drug cartels that they’re up against.
