MY HUSBAND IS LOOKING AT BEING PUT OUT OF THE MILITARY FOR TESTING POSITIVE TO METH. IF YOU KNEW MY HUSBAND YOU WOULD NO THIS WAS CRAZY. WE SINCE HAVE DISCOVERED THAT THE HOME WE PURCHASED AND REMODELED WAS A METH LAB. I AM DISHEARTED AND ALMOST HOMELESS WITH FIVE CHILDREN AND A MILITARY SYSTEM THAT JUST SEES A POSITIVE RESULT. MY HUSBANDS LEVELS WHERE VERY LOW, BUT STILL THERE, MY CHILDREN ALL ARE HAVING BREATHING PROBLEMS AND STRANGE RASHES. WE HAVE MOVED AND THAT ALONE SEEMS TO BE HELPING THERE HEALTH PROBLEMS BUT LEAVES ME THINKING THAT THE STATE NEEDS TO DO MORE TO PROTECT US ALL. WE TESTED THE HOME AND SURE ENOUGH EVERY ROOM OF THE HOME WAS POSITIVE, EVEN AFTER REMODELING.
I WILL NEVER MOVE INTO A HOME AGAIN WITH OUT TESTING IT FIRST…LESSON LEARNED THE HARD WAY.
Lori

Lori, the health problems your children are having are common with acute and chronic exposure to meth chemicals. Its imperative you have them checked out by a physician to make sure there are no long lasting problems. The rashes and breathing problems are very common when living in a house where cooking occurred. Years ago police departments did not understand the extreme nature of busting these labs and they went in without protective respirators. Now they are facing cancers and intense respiratory problems like you are describing. As a former narcotics detective I can attest to the severity of the meth problem. Please do your homework on any new residence and have it tested. The testing procedure is inexpensive and well worth the piece of mind.

I think meth labs are being made dangerously.actually i dont want it there. meth labs have over 28 extremely poisonous substances not to mention the bombs they put in them . woodland,ca. has been known to confiscate 90 labs and we think the follow up lab cleanup is lacking money to say job done now. i wont have that here in our apartment grounds we smell lab poisonous bad stuff almost every day. i called lawyer lawrence p. tackett pllc from texas he said it will be hard to report and i might want to move out as soon as possible. i took out some home owners insurance do you have any idea how much coverage? i think they made the attic the meth lab above me . i dont think its just going to go away -we’re looking at not so easy.im pretty good at demanding that others do their own selfcare and if that falls off the Cliff i dont care they did that to themselves. please email me im good at research could you give me some websites please, thank you
Kati,
If you think someone is making meth, you should report them to the police department or Sheriff’s office in your area, so they can investigate it as soon as possible! For your own safety, DO NOT try to handle the situation yourself!
A national database of these homes is very needed
If there was a national database, it would only include 1/10 of the homes that have been used to make meth, leaving 9 out of 10 homes still unreported in any database. Learning about meth lab homes and meth lab testing is the only defense we have against them, I’m afraid.
I reported a home anonymously in our subdivision. This guys mom and dad are in law enforcement and they will not do anything about it, is why I did so and we do not want to stir up problems for ourselves here. We know because we have called them before for other issues. Everyone around here knows each other and are related, it seems. We are not from here. The mother is a sheriff here and the father is the dispatcher at the police station. I think they are in on it too. I bet nothing gets done about it. The house wreaks of cat urine and we smell sewage and burning smells all the time in the dead of summer. They also keep windows open in the winter too. It is so obvious. They have traffic all hours of the night and a little during the day. The mother and father live in another house but even they will not go to the door of the residence. They sit in the car and honk the horn for their son to come out. It is sickening how nothing will probably be done about it here if they want the local police to have a hand in it.
It sounds like you’re going to have to let another law enforcement agency know about it. Contact your State police department and the DEA and let them know what’s going on.
You did the right thing by reporting it. If they are running a meth lab, anyone entering or living in the house (including children) and anyone living near them is in serious danger.
Stay safe!
where do you find tests to test the home to see if its positive for meth in the house?
Katie,
To find out if a home has been used as a meth lab, you need to have the home professionally tested by someone who has professionally trained, such as a industrial hygienist. The cost of the test varies depending upon the area of the country that you’re living in and the size of the property that you need to have tested. Testing costs range between a few hundred dollars to over a thousand dollars. If you have any questions, just send them in an email to info@methlabhomes.com.
