What is your child learning about Meth in school?
May 13, 2008
Teaching kids about the real world can help them learn in a meaningful way about themselves, others, and the world around them. But, teaching them how to make meth? That doesn’t make sense to me. We don’t throw people off a cliff to warn them that it dangerous, yet schools seem to being doing that to teach children about meth. It doesn’t make sense to me or to Teresa McCutcheon. Here’s what she had to say when her daughter told her about what she learned about meth at school.
“I was really upset when my daughter had come home and said ‘mom we learned how to make meth today in school,’ ” said parent Teresa McCutcheon. “My jaw just kind of dropped and I said, ‘what?’ ” Teresa McCutcheon found it hard to believe what her daughter was telling her. She wanted to see for herself, so she demanded and got a videotape of that class.”
When Mrs. McCutcheon complained to the Elma school Superintendant, he responded by saying “We’ll look at this, but we stand pretty firm in that this is an educational tool. The schools have been very receptive to it in years passed.”
If you don’t know about the drug program in your child’s school, please find out about it. If you don’t, you could end up with a methlab home of your very own or worse. Your child could suffer injury or death from a methlab explosion. Prevent a tragedy and call the school Principal and get contact information for the person(s) who are teaching your child(ren) about drugs. Then call them or meet with them to find out exactly what they are teaching your child about meth and other drugs.
